Automatic preset switching (per app and per genre)

AudioMatch can switch presets for you automatically — a different sound for different apps, or for different music genres — so you never have to fiddle with settings mid-listen.

Per-genre switching

Assign a preset to a music genre and AudioMatch selects it whenever that genre is playing.

  • Easiest way: in the personalization wizard, turn on Auto-switch by genre when you save a preset.
  • Or from settings: open a device, pick a genre, and choose a preset.

Per-app switching

Assign a preset to a specific app (for example, one sound for Spotify and another for YouTube). When that app plays on the current device, its preset is used. Set it up from settings: open a device, choose an app, and assign a preset.

How AudioMatch decides which preset to use

For the current headphones, it checks in this order:

  1. A rule for the app that's playing, then
  2. A rule for the genre that's playing, then
  3. Your last manually-selected preset for that device.

Requirements

Automatic switching relies on Now-playing access (notification access) to detect the current app and song, and on an internet connection for genre detection. If switching isn't happening, confirm Now-playing access is enabled (Settings › Notifications › Notification access), check your connection, and remember you can always pick a preset manually.
